This past summer I was in Spain during the world cup and probably had the best time in my life! Every game, hundreds and hundreds of Spaniards would gather around any TV they could find in the streets, by restaurants, stores or even some people would just pull out a TV from their apartments and set it up on the sidewalk. We would go to the pubs or to local bars and watch the games on the big screens. When Spain won the World Cup game, hundreds of thousands of people erupted into the streets singing "Yo Soy Espanol." They all went to the square and set off fireworks. It was so neat to see how a single sport could unite and entire country. The following photo was taken right after Spain won:
